THE
LEGEND OF BANYUWANGI
Once
upon a time, there lived a bussinesman named Sidapeksa. He ha d avery beautiful
wife. But, his mother disliked her.
One day, Sidapeksa had to go to Japan,
to meet his relation, and leaved his pregnant wife.
Not
long afterwards, a cute son was born. The baby’s birth gave much happiness for
Sidapeksa’s wife. And she told her husband about this.
One
day, while Sidapeksa’s wife was went to the market, her mother in law sank her
baby in the river. Knew it,Sidapeksa’s wife was very sad.
Two
months passed, and Sidapeksa returned from his journey. He didn’t had more
patient to saw his wife and his son.
But, just as he was about to enter his house, his mother told him, that his
wife had sank their baby.
Sidapeksa
believed his mother’s story. He was very angry. Then, he took his wife to the
edge of the river. Suddenly, his wife leaped up and threw herself.
Suddenly,two
pure white flower appeared, one smaller and one bigger. A sweet fragrance came
from them.
Then,
the smaller one told him the truth. After that, the two flowers vanished into
the water. They left their fragrance behind.
Since
then, people call the city on it’s banks of the river BANYUWANGI.
BANYU means water and WANGI means fragrance.
